What Is Grob Rolling

Precision Profiles.
Formed, Not Cut.

Grob Rolling cold forms steel and aluminum bar into gear, spline and pulley profiles. Material is displaced instead of removed, so every tooth comes out stronger, smoother and more consistent than a machined one.

You buy the profile as long bar stock and cut it to length in your own shop: no custom tooling per part and no minimum order on our 2,100+ standard profiles.

Spur Gears

14.5° and 20° gear stock from 6 to 48 DP, in steel and aluminum, ready to cut to length.

Spline Shafts

Grob standard, SAE, ANSI B92.1, ISO 14, DIN 5480 and ball splines, stocked in 1117 steel.

Timing Pulleys

XL, MXL, L, H, HTD, GT and metric T and AT profiles, formed to belt pitch and sold by the foot.

Why Choose Cold Formed

The Grob Rolling
Advantage

Cold forming displaces material instead of cutting it, creating stronger parts with a superior surface finish and zero material waste. Grob has refined this process for more than 70 years.

Stronger
Tooth Profile

Rolling rearranges the grain structure across the whole profile. The greatest strength gain is at the root, exactly where stress is highest.

Superior
Surface Finish

Displacement forming leaves smoother flanks than hobbing or cutting, reducing noise, friction and lubrication over the life of the part.

Zero
Material Waste

No chips, no cutting fluid, no scrap. Material is displaced, not removed, making cold forming cleaner and faster than conventional methods.

Cost-Effective
& Scalable

High-speed bar production means large quantities at consistent quality. Standard profiles ship fast; custom tooling is developed quickly.
